Interdisciplinary Designer

I’m Abhay Singh, an interdisciplinary designer from Uttarakhand, currently pursuing my M.Des at IIT Guwahati.
I explore how systems, senses, and stories can merge to create humane, adaptive, and meaningful experiences. My work bridges diverse domains from healthcare and mobility to XR, BCI, and sustainable product systems, grounded in the belief that design should always respond to context, emotion, and change.

My design process thrives at the intersection of technology and empathy. Whether it’s mapping multi-visit journeys for hospitals, building EEG-powered XR games for Alzheimer’s rehabilitation, or crafting adaptive interfaces for electric vehicles, I approach every problem as a system of interlinked behaviors rather than isolated screens.

Having worked across digital and physical mediums, I’ve developed a practice that blends research depth with hands-on experimentation, balancing analytical thinking with poetic intuition. My projects often begin with user narratives and evolve into tangible systems, sometimes an interface, sometimes a spatial experience, or sometimes a tool that grows into a community.

Outside design, I practice martial arts including Taekwondo, Karate, and Judo, which keep me grounded, disciplined, and aware of movement and balance. Recently, I’ve also begun learning the bansuri (Indian bamboo flute), exploring rhythm and flow through sound. These pursuits shape how I understand energy, form, and harmony — qualities that influence my design philosophy deeply.

When I’m not designing, I’m learning from the terrains I come from, the mountains of Uttarakhand, where every river carves its own path. That’s how I see design too: as a dhaara, a continuous flow that adapts, learns, and shapes the world around it.
